ENTERPRISE AND EMPLOYABILITY

Given few weeks to complete, this project seemed a bit tiring at first, as we had to manage our studio practice with it. But now when I look back, I am glad to have supportive team members, whom I worked cooperatively with, to complete everything together.

Working in collaboration was a great experience. Initially we had problems managing everyone’s time and their schedule. Many group meeting did actually succeed. To improve it, we would set the agenda prior to meet-up, and usually came prepared with the materials we wanted to share and discuss. With better organization we developed a sense of understanding among ourselves for group work and all of us took certain typical tasks related to group work like funding, documentation, press release, curator, and administrator. I was assigned to look after funding and managing the budget for the entire group. We managed to stick to our budget and carry the whole exhibition more efficiently. I don’t know what kind of experiences my group members had with the group and me during the entire module, but I had pleasant experiences with them and I learned a lot from them. I was really pleased about the final installation. This was not actually what we thought of, rather it came out more successfully. Because it had to do more with the people, it brought many different creative ideas together. I learned the importance of communication when working in a group, for others can always notice what one ignores. Also, one idea could be conveyed in different manners, and could lead to totally different results. Therefore, we should find the most productive way to communicate our thoughts and ideas towards the group.

COLLAGES!!

One day a friend just came over to me and asked if i could help him out with his new video promotion.  He works for a magazine company. He wanted me to make different collages on UK which includes fashion, food, current affairs, sports, music and life. I used some online links and recent magazines to go through it. It was good experience. Had fun doing it.

PAINTINGS

I did this using a metal spray gun and oil colors, separating the painting in 3 different canvas with grooves in between. This was quite challenging for me because many times the shades didn't came out properly. I made that to a friend for his living room which he liked a lot.
This was the first time i used jute and foil in my painting. I chopped down many pieces of jute and foil and stuck them all over the canvas and painted over it using knife and brush. I really liked this one because the red color gives a very powerful impact.

Wall Painting

Heellooo guys!! Hope you all are having great time. To long i haven't posted anything. Last week i did two wall paintings for the first time. Initially i was a bit nervous that  i don't spoil my walls, but gradually it came out to be good. Describing about the floral pattern, i used brush and acrylic color, only black. First i drew the pattern on a paper and then on the wall using a glass marking pencil. Working on walls becomes more tough then working on canvas or any other surface. Needs a lot of patience and concentration. Overall it was creative and useful.

This painting was more exhausting than the previous one. I used like 24 different acrylic colors. That's toooooo much i know!!!!....First i chopped different shapes on the mounting board and drew it in a pattern form on the walls. Using knife i formed different textures in each shape which became very interesting. To be more precise the pattern goes a bit on ceiling as well which becomes more fascinating. Enjoyed a lot doing both these paintings.

CONTINUITY...

My, not actually concept, but the area of focus is " CONTINUITY". I bought some A4 canvas board and started working with it. I used Acrylic inks and water as mediums for my work. I didnot planned anything and just started working- mixing inks, dripping them, mixing them with water. using masking taps. I liked it a lot because they were really experimental and had vivid and bright colours.

This are the combinations of small canvases that i placed together to see how it looks in a form of a collage.
These experiments of mine worked on quite well so i though of doing it more on a larger scale. Some of my friends gave a review that "GRAVITY" may be one of my concept. I would like to develope this patterns on some other surface rather than canvase where i feel freedom for colours to flow on its own.

BERLIN...

3 days in BERLIN were really memorable days of my life. I didnot wanted to come back to hatfield. We had great experience going around the galleries and museums and even the life of berlin. Jewish memorial was the most interesting place for me. I had a cold feeling gettin into this place.

WORKING IN COLLABORATION....

One of our modules for second semester was a collaboration video project. We could do either installation or performance or video or a combination of all these but we had to present our work in the form of video. I teamed up with Markos Sotiriou, Mary Savva and effy Ioannou.

With our continuous discussions and interactions, we came up with an idea of making huge screen with papers we got from print makin. On the huge screen, we planned of casting shadows and create something like cinematic- theatrical experience. After we had the screen ready, a series of experiments had begun ranging from dancing in circular motion behind the screen and creating interesting shadows to performing live for our colleagues.

Furthermore, we created small experiments, exploring the nature of shadows and the implication of sound in video. We even trid painting on screen through the postures made on the screen by the shadows. All these experiments actually helped us in bringing out some really innovative and contemporary ideas. Our final video though had something which was not in relation with the screen. We wore pillowcases on our heads, went out and started spinning our heads in various places.

Through working in collaboration, i really had a good opportunity to widen my thoughts and think in more creative and broad way. I also learned how to direct different ideas towards a productive way. From a point of view, this activity is important for an artist to establish relationships and connections with another artist. It focuses more on co-operation rather than competiiton to achieve a shared vision. Overall, with good and efficient team effort, our presentation was successful.
