STUDIO WORK

Got permission to work in the corridor of the studios!! Might have been a pain to many people though. Anyways, after my previous installation (in the installation room), tutor told me to use different spaces around the studios to create some interesting installations. Did not actually plan before doing it. Don't know why but  somehow this particular place forced me to do something like below. Every corner, wall has its own uniqueness. This installation might not suit any other wall as it does to this one (according to me). The lines though were black with a white background, looking at it for a longer time gave a feeling of color in them. Very intense shadows were formed by the lines.  It took me around 8 hours at a stretch to install it .

STUDIO WORK

STUDIO WORK

2nd year semester 2. Time to get serious about my work. Wanted to move away from my small, boring and lonely studio space. I booked the installation room for almost a week. As usual did not plan anything in before. Just knew that because i am working with patterns, lines and shapes wanted to use this wall (approx 30ft long * 20ft height) creatively. I am using black wool in this. Originally was just going to do one-fourth of the whole wall, but i am blessed with perfect friend circle who inspired me to continue over the whole wall. Started by sticking every bit with blue tack. I thought i would never finish this. It was taking all of my time and energy. To install it, worked around 6 hours daily for 5 days. But truly, for me it was a great stepping stone. It added a lot more to my studio practice and a lot more to think about. After installing it had a bit of funny moments (sorry cannot upload all of them :p) with my friend Markos and Mary (photo courtesy).

STUDIO WORK

This was my final work for 2nd year semester 1. Don't have much to say about it. It was just a small installation with tracing paper and black cardboard paper. Experimented after with lights to create some shadows.

ENTERPRISE AND EMPLOYABILITY

Given few weeks to complete, this project seemed a bit tiring at first, as we had to manage our studio practice with it. But now when I look back, I am glad to have supportive team members, whom I worked cooperatively with, to complete everything together.

Working in collaboration was a great experience. Initially we had problems managing everyone’s time and their schedule. Many group meeting did actually succeed. To improve it, we would set the agenda prior to meet-up, and usually came prepared with the materials we wanted to share and discuss. With better organization we developed a sense of understanding among ourselves for group work and all of us took certain typical tasks related to group work like funding, documentation, press release, curator, and administrator. I was assigned to look after funding and managing the budget for the entire group. We managed to stick to our budget and carry the whole exhibition more efficiently. I don’t know what kind of experiences my group members had with the group and me during the entire module, but I had pleasant experiences with them and I learned a lot from them. I was really pleased about the final installation. This was not actually what we thought of, rather it came out more successfully. Because it had to do more with the people, it brought many different creative ideas together. I learned the importance of communication when working in a group, for others can always notice what one ignores. Also, one idea could be conveyed in different manners, and could lead to totally different results. Therefore, we should find the most productive way to communicate our thoughts and ideas towards the group.
